Dr. Ray Alavanja and Dr. Robert Pieters are both graduates of the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Even though they each have over 20 years of experience, they continue to pursue higher education courses, keeping up with the latest technological advances and industry procedures in order to provide the highest level of care.
Dr. Ray and Dr. Robert are both members of the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Northwest Indiana Dental Association. They’re also certified Invisalign providers and incorporate sedation dentistry into their practice for optimal patient comfort.
As members of the community for over 30 years, Dr. Ray and Dr. Robert are committed to improving the wellbeing of their patients and creating long-lasting relationships based on integrity, trust and human connection.
Dr. Ray Alavanja graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1998 and has over 25 years of experience in the dental field. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society and the Northwest Indiana Dental Society. Dr. Alavanja practices general/family dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and stays up to date by annually taking continuing education courses in various fields of dentistry. Dr. Alavanja believes in providing state of the art, relationship based, comprehensive care that is tailored to fit into the lives of his patients.
After dental school Dr. Alavanja chose to return to Northwest Indiana to serve the community where he was raised. Dr. Alavanja is married and has three sons. He likes to read, exercise and play golf when he isn't practicing dentistry or driving his sons to games and practices.
As a graduate of the Indiana University School of Dentistry, Dr. Pieters feels very fortunate to practice back home in Northwest Indiana. Living near the city and Lake Michigan keeps him very busy! He enjoys trying new restaurants, shops, and entertainment. He also enjoys experiencing the hiking trails and beaches. His family takes advantage of the location and is very often outside enjoying it in some manner.
He feels our location also has professional advantages, such as having access to the full variety of dental education courses available. He enjoys treating people, not simply teeth; and enjoys getting to know his patients in the process. Dr. Pieters has over 25 years of experience and enjoys what he does very much.

The health of our patients is our top priority, but we know that balancing all of your obligations can be tricky at best. For this reason, we offer flexible office hours from 7 am to 8 pm, in order to accommodate hectic schedules and ensure oral care is accessible to even the busiest of patients.

Kristina has been in the dental field for 17 years and loves what she does! She enjoys getting to know and building relationships with our patients. Kristina has been with Schererville Family Dentistry for 6 years and loves working with such a great team! Kristina is married and has two sons who keep her very busy!! In her spare time, she plays volleyball and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Jaime graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry and has been practicing dental hygiene for 20 years! She has three children with her husband of 18years, John. In her free time, she enjoys visiting her son at IU and watching IU basketball.
Celena has been in the dental field for over 15 years and has experience in all aspects of dental. She loves and enjoys her job very much! She has 2 fur babies named Evie and Bullet, and a boyfriend named Jack that she loves very much and loves spending her free time with.
Kim has always had a passion for dentistry and started working in the field when she was in high school through a vocational program. Fast forward 20 years, and she still loves it just as much. She strives to make her patients happy and comfortable, and give them the most enjoyable experience possible. Her husband, Doug and her have two amazing daughters, two dogs, and reluctantly, one cat.
Nichole has been in the dental field for almost twenty years and loves what she does. She has worked for SFD for 6 years, and she loves the team and all our patients! In her off time, she loves spending time with her family and enjoys staying active with her kids.
Dasha has had the pleasure of working in dental for over 20 years! She has met many great people!! The most rewarding part of her job has been playing a part in making everyone feel comfortable in the chair, while also throwing in a laugh or two! Dasha has worked at Schererville Family Dentistry for 3 years and is very proud of our staff and the services we provide. Her husband, Bo, and her have three beautiful daughters, one son-in-law, and a very high maintenance German Shephard that they love very much.
Savannah was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. She attained her education and licensure from Indiana University School of Dentistry/IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana and has been practicing dental hygiene since 2017. Some of her favorite activities include line dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends!
Annie started her dental career in 2005 and loves connecting with our patients. She understands coming to the dentist can be difficult, so she is dedicated to going the extra mile to accommodate your visit and make it as stress free as possible! Annie loves spending time with her family, cooking, and attempting to garden.
Brith as been in the dental field for 10 years, and loves putting a smile on our patient's faces. Brit loves spending time her fiancé, and fur babies.
Gayle has been in the dental field for almost 39 years and enjoys what she does. Gayle has worked for SFD for 13 years. She loves all of our patients and team. She truly enjoys working with our doctors. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and friends and enjoys camping.
